Budget Training Series:

How to Speak at Budget Consultations

See other Budget Training sessions offered here.

On January 21 and 22 the City's Budget Committee will be hosting public consultations that will directly impact the Mayor’s proposed budget. This is your opportunity to share your story directly to the City Councillors and tell them what you want to see in the budget.

Speaking at a consultation is also known as making a deputation. Deputations are an opportunity for you to tell elected officials your opinions and experiences on issues they will be voting on. Right now, deputations at the City of Toronto are taking place online and in person.

We are excited to co-host this training with the Toronto Youth Cabinet (TYC) on Thursday January 16. TYC Executive Director Stephen Mensah and Progress Toronto’s Executive Director Saman Tabasinejad will be leading our How to Speak at Budget Consultations training.

At this workshop you will learn the basics of making a deputation. You will learn how to read the committee agenda,  sign up for a deputation, and prepare an impactful deputation.
