Monica Krista De Vera

Monica is a Founding Advisor of Progress Toronto. She is a Masters of Environmental Studies candidate in planning at York University. She has been involved in the university through committees, a graduate and research assistantship, and was a visiting student at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, Germany for research on climate change, social movements and the right to the city.

Born and raised in Toronto, Monica is justice-driven. She was Progress Toronto’s first Organizer hired in 2018, and has worked on various electoral and issue-based campaigns for progressive candidates and organizations at all levels of Canadian government. Monica is currently Executive Administrative Assistant to the President at CUPE Ontario. 

Fighting for workers and intersectional feminism are foundational elements in Monica’s personal and professional life.
