Training: Have Your Say at the Police Board

The Toronto Police Services (TPS) Board is meeting to vote on and finalize their long-term staffing plan that will set up their budget for years to come. On Thursday September 12, the board will be holding public consultations to hear from residents on what they want to see from the plan.
This is an opportunity to tell them to invest in evidence-based solutions that make our city safer by reallocating the ballooning $1.2 billion police budget to other services.
Speaking (also known as a deputation) means making a 5 minute online or in-person speech to the TPS Board members. The police board oversees the police and they make important decisions on policies and strategic direction. Deputations are an impactful way to influence the board members to hold the police accountable.
Progress Toronto is excited to host a free training on Thursday, September 5 with our Organizer Donovan Hayden and Founding Advisor Monica de Vera.
At this workshop you will learn the basics of making a deputation, how to sign up, and how to prepare an impactful speech. Deputations can be made online or in-person at TPS headquarters at 40 College St.
