Shannon Holness
Shannon Holness is a Founding Advisor of Progress Toronto. Shannon hails from Jane and Finch. She is committed to social justice and passionate about empowering future generations.
As a scholar and a community activist, Shannon does an amazing job of bridging research and lived experiences to broaden the scope of democratic engagement and coalition building in historically marginalized communities.
Shannon is a mentor to many other young women, though she rarely acknowledges the work she does. She has informally mentored many other young women and continues to support them in achieving their goals.
Shannon recently completed her masters in Urban Planning from the faculty of Environmental Studies at York University. In the program, Shannon linked her lived experiences as a social housing resident with theory and wrote a compelling thesis centred on an analysis of community revitalizations all over the world.
