Speak at the 2024 Budget Committee on January 22 or 23!
On January 22 and 23 the City's Budget Committee will be hosting public consultations and this is one opportunity to share your story directly with decision-makers to let them know what you need to see in this year's budget. You can talk about housing, transit, child care, the environment, and more!
Speaking at a committee is also known as making a deputation. Deputations are an opportunity for you to tell locally elected politicians your opinions and experiences on issues they will be voting on. We want to support you on giving your deputation! Here are a few ways we can help:

Join Sunday’s Prep Session
Progress Toronto will provide the support you need to give a great deputation. Along with connecting you to a community of other speakers all making their voices heard.
Sunday, January 21 at 12pm we will be hosting an online informal Deputation Prep Session to help you write, practice, and get feedback. You can sign up here. New this year, we will have Deputation Buddies. These will be experienced volunteers that can provide personable support and feedback as you prepare your deputation.

How do I sign up to speak?
To speak at the Budget Committee you can email buc@toronto.ca or call 416-392-4666. You are asked to register by 4:30 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2024. If you can, indicate what time segment (see above) you’d like to speak during and if you will be joining in person or online by video conference.
The City will provide registered speakers with instructions about how to join the meeting and help you understand how to join by video conference.
