Speak at the 2025 Budget Consultations on January 21 or 22!

On January 21 and 22 the City's Budget Committee will be hosting public consultations that will directly impact the Mayor’s proposed budget. This is your opportunity to share your story directly to City Councillors and tell them what you want to see in the budget.

Speaking at a consultation is also known as making a deputation. Deputations are an opportunity for you to tell elected officials your opinions and experiences on issues they will be voting on. Progress Toronto will provide the support you need to give a great deputation, along with connecting you to a community of other speakers all making their voices heard.

Here are a few ways we can support you:

  • Join our Speaking at Budget Consultations Prep Session on Sunday Jan 19 at 12pm

  • Provide you with a worksheet to prepare your deputation

  • Pair you with an experienced volunteer (deputation buddy) who can provide personal support throughout the process

Join the Prep Session

On Sunday, January 19 at 12pm we will be hosting an online Speaking at Budget Consultations Prep Session. We’ll help you learn the basics of crafting a deputation, brainstorm what you’d like to speak about, and practice delivering an impactful speech in a supportive space.
