Spring Training Series:

Community Building in the Inner Suburbs

See the other Spring training sessions here

The majority of Toronto’s wards are in what is known as the inner suburbs (Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough) where many racialized, working class, and new Canadians live. It is important to organize and build progressive power in the inner suburbs to win for communities.

Community leaders and organizations across the city are already doing this work. We are partnering up with the Scarborough Environmental Association (SEA) to learn how they are bringing people together and building power in Scarborough. Through social media, in-person outreach, and free community events, they are mobilizing people to take action on the environment and other important issues.

On Wednesday, May 8 at 6PM, join Community Organizers Fizza Khalid and Krissan Veerasingam from the Scarborough Environmental Association to learn how progressives can successfully build power in suburban communities. Find out what lessons they have learned and how you can bring your neighbours together to build political power.
