We’ve changed things up for this training series in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve moved over to online trainings and added some new topics.

Our trainings include how to build your own neighbourhood support networks, a panel on e-learning and who is left out, self-care in challenging times, using your personal narrative to move people to action, and more!

Supreme Court Says Yes to Hearing Toronto’s Case Against Doug Ford’s Undemocratic Interference in Our Municipal Elections

Big news was announced today! The Supreme Court of Canada has granted the City of Toronto’s appeal of Doug Ford’s Bill 5 - his interference in our active 2018 municipal elections. You remember, that time Doug Ford changed all the rules and wards in the middle of our election, weeks before voters went to the polls — an unprecedented attack on Toronto and local democracy.

Since Bill 5 was first announced on July 27, 2018, Progress Toronto has been advocating to stop it. We’ve helped tens of thousands of people take action against Bill 5 and won key votes at City Hall as we encouraged the Mayor and Councillors to stand up for our city and continue fighting this unprecedented interference in our elections. Decisions made at City Hall and the Toronto School Board affect lives across Toronto. Many of those decisions are made at committees where the public has an opportunity to speak. That’s why, one way to ensure representatives and the Mayor hear our concerns is by speaking at a committee.
