Volunteer to Demand Housing Supports

Each night over 250 are denied emergency housing in Toronto’s shelter system. Our city’s housing and homelessness crisis is at a boiling point.

In the past, 300 households could exit homelessness in Toronto each month using the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB). But since April, funding for the housing benefits have stopped. This means 1,200 households who could have secured housing, haven’t and are in shelters or sleeping outdoors.

Doug Ford and Justin Trudeau need to fund housing supports to help people experiencing homelessness transition into permanent housing.

Join us at events across the city to help residents take action on housing supports. Exact meeting locations will be sent out after you RSVP. Sign up for an event using the form:

Thank you to the volunteers that canvassed with us this summer!

We are no longer canvassing for this campaign.

If you would like to volunteer for Progress Toronto on our other campaigns, please fill out this form and an Organizer will reach out soon.

Never canvassed before? Don’t worry! We will give you support, training, and pair you with an experienced volunteer. Canvassing at events is a fun way to get out in the community and talk to people about issues that matter to them.

Will you join us? RSVP using this form.

Accessibility Information
If you have any access needs, please let us know at the bottom of the sign up form. Access needs are defined as anything a person may need to communicate, learn, and take part in an activity.

Canvassing may be inaccessible for some as it requires speaking to the public and standing for multiple hours, however you are welcome to join for as long as you like.

We are implementing disability justice in our framework and are constantly learning and growing. If you have any questions, suggestions, or need any further information, please reach out to us at volunteer@progresstoronto.ca.
